Around a period of eight years, Schucman transcribed what would become A Program in Wonders, amounting to three volumes: the Text, the Book for Pupils, and the Handbook for Teachers. The Text lays out the theoretical foundation of the class, elaborating on the primary methods and principles. The Workbook for Pupils contains 365 classes, one for every day of the season, designed to steer the audience through a daily exercise of using the course's teachings. The Information for Educators gives further guidance on the best way to understand and train the rules of A Course in Miracles to others.

One of many key subjects of A Program in Wonders is the idea of forgiveness. The program teaches that true forgiveness is the key to inner peace and awareness to one's divine nature. Based on their teachings, forgiveness is not only a ethical or moral exercise but a basic change in perception.
